Dear El Paso County Democratic Party Friends and Supporters,
As 2017 comes to a close (many of us would like to slam the door on it as it has been a very difficult year) it is time to reflect on silver linings, time for generosity of spirit and gratitude for lessons learned and for each other. It is time to gather our strength and our resources for 2018, we are going to need them to continue to stand up for justice in this county and this country.
I am deeply grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who have spent thousands of hours helping to build the infrastructure needed to get Democrats elected across the state and across the county; many of whom have never been involved with the party before, others who have been chipping away at change for decades.
Thank you. I am deeply grateful for you. Thank you for bringing your expertise, your passion, your participation, your support with monthly sustaining contributions and yearly one time contributions. Thank you for investing in us. Thank you for bringing your ideas, your time, your wisdom, your knowledge. Thank you for helping us plant the grassroots of a party that is learning, listening and welcoming to all. We need you and your support.
We've had an incredible year of many changes and much progress. We have resisted in record numbers the continuous efforts from 45, Cory Gardner, and Doug Lamborn to strip away our rights, to target our health care, our jobs, our environment, facts, science, women, children, our decency and our humanity. Across the country, we are the tide that is rising to elect Democrats who will fight for our values in unprecedented places with unprecedented margins. El Paso county is in transition, demographics are changing but we need your help; first to connect to the 94,000 Democrats who think they are alone, then to the left leaning progressives hiding out in unaffiliated voter statuses. As the last 2 election cycles have shown, elections are won by only a few votes and we CAN make a difference.
This year we diligently rebuilt the structure of our local party; we cut expenses and streamlined our outreach. We re-opened our office as a Democratic Party organizing community center for change. We are continuing to hold bi-weekly precinct organizing and training meetings, monthly executive meetings, community conversations, monthly happy hours, candidate forums, weekly phone banks. We co-sponsored rallies and protests to stand up for healthcare, taxes, science, women, civility. We stood up to gerrymandering. We held our politicians accountable, worked to close down Drake, stood up for public lands with Strawberry Fields, and for communities threatened by Hitch Rock Quarry. We phone banked for candidates and infrastructure and school bond issues. We have been working for candidates where there is no primary and working to build the infrastructure to help our Democratic Candidates get elected where there IS a primary.
We are a 100% volunteer organization, which means, this is YOUR party, we need YOUR voice to help us do the work that is critical to spreading progressive values and getting democrats elected. I thank you for your continued support. Please join us.
As 2017 comes to a close, lets continue looking towards the future and fighting for Medicare, Medicaid, Social security, our environment, education and the future of this world and country. With your help we can un-tether the GOP stronghold that El Paso county has been and elect Democrats so that we can take back the majority in the house and senate and the local and federal level.
Please consider becoming a monthly donor, your $5, $10, $27, $50 or $100 monthly contributions keep our doors open and help us build the infrastructure to get Democrats like Pete Lee (State Senate 11) and Tony Exum (State House 17) re-elected and helps us promote the many Democrats running for upcoming elections in State House Districts 18, 21, & 16, Congressional District 5 and County Commission Districts 1 & 5. We also are working at the state level to elect Democrats for Governor, Attorney general, treasurer and secretary of state.
