“Care for our veterans is not a partisan issue, it’s a societal issue. The right to health care is a democratic ideal,” said Electra Johnson, chair of the El Paso County Democratic Party. “That right should include mental healthcare and suicide prevention, and the struggles of too many of our veterans illustrate this shortcoming in our society too well. Compassion and care for those in need begins locally, in our communities, which is why it’s important to support local nonprofits and caregivers, and to elect candidates who share those beliefs, and who demonstrate their support of veterans with real policies.”
